I kinda wish this was real. I saw someone at work throw away a soup can and I had a day dream about this commercial.

This is an instruction manual for the Singer Touch & Sew sewing machine. This was my grandmother’s sewing machine and it was given to me with the manual. I was showing it to a friend commenting on the Mary Tyler Moore Style and how few marker renderings you see these days. My friend said they believed it was a water color. We both had good arguments, but nothing was resolved and so I would love to know what other people think. Is It a marker rendering or a water color and what makes you think this way?

Over the holiday break my boyfriend and I were toying with the idea of taking a trip to Philadelphia. We did some searching for museums and the Mutter Museum came up in our search. We stumbled onto this podcast that the museum puts out and No Bones About It! Featuring Noah Scalin caught my interest. I love The idea of creating a skull a day although I’m not so sure that one a day is a realistic goal for me. I didn’t make a new years resolution however making one “SOMETHING” a week seems like a goal I could stick to for a year. So I think I’m going to purse this concept. Anyone out there have something that they are going to do? I’ve seen ideas to design for 15 to 20 min every day and I’m wondering how that will work out for people.

One of my favorite child hood memories was home made cheese cake. Growing up my parents decided that they were going to go organic way before it was trendy. My mother tired lots of different recipes many not successful such as the bean brownies with some kind of orange marmalade jelly. Lets just say that my friends didn’t want to come over for dinner often.

My absolute favorite was her cheese cake. That recipe came from a book called Cooking without the fat by George Mateljan. You just substitute cream cheese with your favorite yogurt. Strain it for a day using cheese cloth or a fine sieve and the consistency becomes more like sour cream/cream cheese.

For the cookie crumble crust I used Ikea’s Swedish Pepparkaka Cookies but feel free to experiment or make your own cookies .For the yogurt I used Stoneyfield Farms  whole fat yogurt. What ever yogurt you choose I would go for a whole milk/ fat yogurt after all your trying to achieve a cheese cake like taste. For the topping I used raspberries that I froze from over the summer but again you can use whatever you like. See the recipe below

My New Year’s resolution for 2010 was kinda silly but I had been wanting to make a Grand Marnier Soufflé for almost a year. The problem was I didn’t have a souffle pot until Christmas and so once that was solved I was able to achieved my goal. I was very happy with the results and so was my boyfriend who gave me the Soufflé pot. Thanks G

I volunteered for the Free people holiday craft swap and this is what I made my swap buddy. Four paper cranes from an old 2007 anthropology catalog. Unfortunately I didn’t take pics of the finished product. Opps. You can see all the other holiday swap gifts here

I love the album art on this Yo Lo Tengo CD cover. I came across this image on a post for Trends on Album art in 2009. Although the blog post wasn’t one that blew my skirt up, I did find this image which did do it for me. I love the color palette, typeface and concept. Speaking of Typefaces does anyone recognize what this script font is? I’ll have to do some more investigating. Maybe I’ll try whatthefont. Although I have to say I have yet to find a typeface that way.
